Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be poor? To go to bed feeling hungry? and feeling like you have a secret that you never want any of your peers to know. That can all change.
Woke up this morning cold, as usual. It was such a cold night last night with just a small slim blanket barely providing any warmth to my body, as i get out of bed my stomach starts to grumble, because i didn’t eat diner last night i was feeling hungry so i head to the kitchen to have my breakfast. As i open the cupboard all that i see is empty boxes of food cereals. I close the cupboard and grab the small leftover chocolate bar that i stole from the store yesterday out of the fridge, and i head to my room to get changed into my dirty school uniform. i only have 1 school uniform that i wear for a week, because my dad got fired from his last job and is now currently unemployed while mum is struggling to pay the bills with the type of job she has. I sit in my room and wait till its time for me to leave for school, it takes about 20 mins to walk to school so i have to leave early. As I leave for the door i grab my bag, book, pen and an apple to eat on the way. Everyone at school spreads rumours about me because of the way i smell, the way my clothes look and how i cant afford anything nice. At lunch i don’t really have anything to eat, i’m either scabbing kids lunches or just starving, and i cant really concentrate during class because all i think about is food. When schools finished i walk straight home, and wait for my parents to get back with the shopping. But when i got home, their was a van and two people standing outside my front door wearing smith family shirts, talking to my parents. As i looked at my parents faces they seemed very happy and as they saw me walking up the front drive way they ran and with joy and told me that everything was going to be alright. After that we moved out of that sketchy house and into a nice townhouse. My life changed forever and for the good. My father found a stable and well paying job and helps mum pay the bills, i have the proper equipment I need for school, theirs always food in the kitchen and i don’t need to go to school hungry and i can finally concentrate at school without thinking about food. This all wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the Smith Family.
